It's Pink Hijab Day

Someone emailed Mama to remind her that today she's supposed to wear pink hijab (scarf) in support of breast cancer. No sweat, she said. Better than just wearing pink ribbons.

She did more than just wear a pink scarf. Look at her entire ensemble today - pink scarf, pink top and pink pants. She was about to put on a pink coat too but as the weather is quite warm nowadays, decided against it. Phew! Lucky she doesn't have pink sandals or shoes or else...

Hmm...next time add pink brooch, pink handbag and pink mobile phone.

Mama lost her mum (technically my Grandma) to breast cancer 22 years ago, three schoolmates to different kinds of cancer, her best buddy Aunty Ti is suffering from it too. Even Aunty J and Aunty M, both of them work at Mama's office, their mothers suffer from the same ailment.

Mama and Mak Long (Mama's sister) spent some sad teenage years looking after their sick mother. Especially as Mama's Dad had also passed away earlier. Can't write too long about this lest we'll all be crying buckets tonight....

WHOA! You know lah aunty...cememeh!

DEar Cat,

Tragedies..one after the other...but what is life without them. Laughter and tears..love and hate...sickness and health...

Aunty pun pakai pink tau...but since I don't own pink trousers since 2 decades ago (gosh...that makes me sound seriously over the hill!), I had to team the whole ensemble with white trousers, white tudung with lil pink flowers. We'll do better next year ye cat? We'll get pink shoes and pink mobile phones too...

Hi Cat, wear pink scarf? For that Cancer day? Hmmm, nice idea too.
Disini all use ribbons...quite a few tie yellow ribbons for their sons or fathers in harms way in Middle East.
G'day to you, Lee.

Is your mama also wearing pink underwear? ;)

So many people I know have cancer. It's as though cancer is already a "common" ailment. But hey, don't cry too much ok?

Aunty Anne,
Technically you were wearing white with splashes of pink, right? Next year we plan to team up with a local boutique and get more people wearing pink. Pink shoes and mobile phones? Err....we don't want to get carried away, do we? meow!

Aunty Elle,
Pink wig? Good idea. We'll go Paddy's Market. Heaps of them there in so many colours too. We'll get the "clown" curly style one. heheheh....purrr...
Send my love to Billy. meow!

Uncle Lee,
Ribbons are too small and too...err...predictable. Last year we had a stadium full of women in pink t-shirts. You'll enjoy that sight. wink wink...meow!

Aunty Pi,
Pink underwear? That's classified information. We don't want to make Uncle Lee giddy with excitement.
No worries, I'll whisper to Dad to make some "arrangements" that way. purrr....meow!

Where are your pretty pink collars then, kitties?

I am so, so sorry to read about your maternal grandma and grandpa. Al-Fatihah. They will always be with you in spirit, dear kitties. Your mama is such a strong and giving person. I wish her the best of health, always.

P/S: By the way, I think you should dress in an ironic fashion for Hallowe'en. You dress as a fish, Brad as a carton of milk, Tom as a chicken drumstick and so forth. Just a silly suggestion.

CO78,
Collars? No way, Jose! We have microchips so no need for collars though personally I won't mind pink diamond choker. ehem....by birthday coming soon....
For Halloween, which is tomorrow, Brad has threatened to dress as Brad Pit in that movie Troy (with the bum exposed!) unless we allow him to be dressed as Johnny Depp. I'll be as myself, Angelina Jolie. Scary, eh? meow!

Ange wear pink lipstick, no? Like Miss Katherine. Goes well with the bling-bling collar and pink tutu. Sure Brad would wink-wink at Miss Kate.

Oh Andrea,
Bling bling collar and pink tutu? hmmm...what a prospect. Would prefer pink sapphire tennis bracelet though...But no pink lipstick. euwwww!
