I Have A Secret......

Psst! It's the Queen's birthday!

No, not the Queen of England's birthday. It's the Queen of Australia's birthday. Heheheh....it's my Mama's birthday today!

And, she has baked a most scrumptious looking chocolate cake. When I asked her if I could have the recipe, she answered that I already have it.

"When did you give me the recipe? It's not like a secret family recipe is it?" I was persistent.

Mama just shook her head before saying, "You were not paying attention the last time I taught you to bake, did you?"

I must say she was being all Socratic about the whole business. But I've made it my mission to record every one of her recipes.

"Remember when I baked the orange butter cake?" she asked again.

"Yes, but surely a chocolate cake would be different?" my turn at being pedantic.

"Huh....," she sighed (which is not a good sign), "Just replace the orange rind and juice with molten dark cooking chocolate."

"Oh, OK, but how much chocolate and how do you melt the chocolate? Microwave?"

"You're very persistent, aren't you?"my Mama continued, "About 200g dark cooking chocolate will do and you melt it in a metal bowl over a pot of boiling water."

"And make sure no water enters the bowl or you'll spoil everything," she continued, "Now stop asking questions and just eat that slice I've cut for you."

Well, no more questions for now. Just enjoy the cake. Must say, the proof...(chomp, chomp, chomp) of the cake (chomp, chomp, chomp) is in the eating.

"Angelina, what did I tell you about talking while eating? People may think I don't teach you manners." Sigh...that's my Mama telling me off. OK, ciao people.

Yum yum yum yum yum (a million times!!!!)

Hmmm...the cake is now under the food cover lest some hungry cats get tempted....

My advice: Never make anyone who's just bake you a chocolate cake angry. (you may not get any!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAMA!!! WE LURVE YOU!!! (and the cake too) meow!!

Happy Birthday, Angelina's Mama! Angelina, don't forget that chocolate is not good for kitties and doggies. Please stick to orange butter cakes. I wish I could get you a fishcake for your birthday! My babies always get Addiction kitty food for their birthdays. All of them get to enjoy the treats, not just the birthday boy or girl.

A BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! Oh, your cake looks lovely!

I hope all the cats did not eat it..think animals are not allowed to eat chocs - read that somewhere :-).

Here's wishing you blessing upon blessing each day of your life and may you be blessed with love, joy, happiness, good health and many 'grandchildren' from Brad and Angelina :-).

Take care and have a lovely weekend.

Warmest wishes,
mws

Masterwordsmith, I think there's a substance called theobromine in chocolate that's supposedly poisonous for felines and canines. However, it doesn't seem to affect either Brad or I. Perhaps we're made of sterner stuff, advantages of being non-pedigrees I suppose! My Mama said thank you for your warm wishes. 'roo jerky coming your way soon....meow meow meow

Dear Aunty Anneaziz, you're spot on. I'm Angelina, a cat, and I have a pet, Brad, who's also a cat. My Mama is a catwoman! Or else, who would be tall enough to open the freezer and take out Magnum for us?
Sorry for all the confusion....and I thought life as a cat is uncomplicated....meow meow meow....

Hi Cat, Happy Birthday to your mom. A birthday is just the first day of another 365-day journey around the sun. Enjoy the trip.
And age is just a number, its what in the heart that counts.
Have a pleasant week, Lee.
