This, to us, is the best way to eat corn. Steamed. lathered with butter and a sprinkling of salt. |
Then we found these at a restaurant in Semporna, Sabah. |
Upclose....looks like mashed up corn steamed in its own skin. The taste? Hmmm....sweetish...reminds us of polenta... |
Oh....he must be the chef who prepared the steamed corn a la Semporna! |

Belum try.. Nampak macam best.. can I take Brad's word on this taste of food issue?
My mom tryed rise that was cooked in bananaleaf when she was in Amsterdam at an Indonesian restaurant.
She said it tasted like banana :)
Mommy LOVES corn...but only corn on the cob...with a generous amount of lovely butter and salt. Yum!
Mama’s right Brad. Weird stuff! But now you’ve made me hungry and I am going to bed !! lol
As I have also learnt, you can find all sorts of interesting food and kueh in Sabah that you will never find in Pen Malaysia. That makes Sabah an even more interesting place to be in.
Wow I've never had mashed corn! And it's in its own skin, how interesting! It's so much fun to discover new things like that...especially when it tastes good :-)
until you said "polenta" I thought maybe I wouldn't like it but I LOVE polenta so I would love it.
I adore corn slathered in butter too but the sad thing? Corn no longer likes ME...gives me stomach aches!!
Ayoh Wang,
I wasn't given the nickname JJ Richards for nothing! har har har *evil laughs*
Kjelle Bus,
Oohhh....we have those too. It is called lontong. But usually eaten with a dollop of vegetables cooked in coconut milk with some chili on the side. har har har *evil laughs*
FoW,
What about corn in a cup? I love those too..... There's a night market near our house today. Will ask Mama to get me some corns..... har har har *evil laughs*
Aunty Caro,
Hungry is good! Coz am always hungry and Mama said I should work with the rubbish contractor! How mean! har har har *evil laughs*
Your Royal Monyetness,
Any vacancy at your Sabah office? har har har *evil laughs*
Tamago san,
This is our first time too. We don't consider polenta as mashed corn coz they came in manufactured packages....har har har *evil laughs*
Aunty Caren,
Oh no! Corn on the cob slathered with butter and salt is the best food, ever! But what to do if your stomach doesn't agree. har har har *evil laughs*

i like corn any which way i guess.
emma and buster likes to munch on the corn hairs.
LP loves corn on the cob with plenty of butter and salt. In fact she had some for lunch today!
The steamed corn sounds tasty but it seems it would need to be eaten with other things-not just corn as a meal as would be the tendency with corn on the cob!

We love it too. But not so much the creamed style as it's too sweet.
Emma & Buster are my kind of kitties....yeah...munch on the hair but leave the delicious kernels for mummy? har har har *evil laughs*
Cottage Felines,
Have you all tried grilled corn? Superb too! Mama would sometimes sprinkle peri-peri spices and then put the corns on the barbie....yummm..... har har har *evil laughs*
Au, Target & Guido,
Oh yeah....we don't like sweet stuff too much. Corn on the cob is the best. har har har *evil laughs*
Yes, we eat grilled corn on the bbq too! But I don't know what peri-peri spices are...

Memang akan dicarik d bazar ramadan nanti
Cottage Felines,
Peri peri is a hot spice mix from Africa, could be Portuegese in origin. It's hot but yummy. har har har *evil laughs*
Uncle Aby,
Am drooling now. har har har *evil laughs*
Is it a fruit or a vegetable?
Pakcik dear,
Neither! Corn is a type of grain. har har har *evil laughs*
I thought cats are carnivores . Hmm maybe other cats are, but Brad is an omnomnomnomnivore
Tante Sandy,
You are absolutely right! Am an omnomnomnomnivore. har har har *evil laughs*
How peculiar! I still prefer my corn with its kernels intact, though. One day when I am old, toothless and gray, I might go for the mashed version instead.
