Old Age

Scene 1: Kitchen

Angelina: Mama, remember how we used to hold Eid open house when were living in Sydney?
Mama: Yes, I do.
Angelina: So.....?
Mama: What???
Angelina: So, are we going to have any here?
Mama: Hmm...am still sick and don't feel up to it, you know....
Angelina: We can get a caterer or something...if you're not cooking. I can help make coffee...
Mama: I have a better idea...we'll have an open house, but not here, and I won't have to cook.
Angelina: I'm sooo excited Mama....but where?
Mama: We are going to hold it there (scroll down)

It's a shelter for abandoned kids and old folks...
Angelina: Are we inviting any of my friends or relatives?
Mama: They can come if they want to but they'll have to email us for details, and for catering purposes.
Angelina: Who's living there, Mama?
Mama: There are some kids, and many old people. It's sad how some people abandon their kids and old parents. Just discard them like that.
Angelina: I won't do that to you, Mama.
Mama: Won't do what?
Angelina: Discard you, like those people.
Mama: Thank you, Angelina. I know I can count on my beautiful daughter.
Angelina: Ooohhh....let me kiss and cuddle you....(snorgle...snorgle....)

This uncle will be my special guest....
These uncles too....
Wake up, uncle! Come to my party too...
We hope to bring smiles on the faces of this uncle and aunty...
Where they sleep at night....
Angelina's note: Yesterday Mama went to visit a newly-found shelter for abandoned children and old folks with special needs. We are going to hold a Merdeka-Raya party there next week. I think this is Mama's new pet project. purrr....meow!

What is a merdeka raya party please?

We think a party would cheer the elders and kids up.

Oh for a perfect world where humans were humane and suffering ceased to exist....

Cottage Felines,
Ooops...me bad me bad! Explanation for everyone: merdeka = independence, raya = eid, since we're still in the month-long celebrations of both.
Yeah...we all long for an ideal world. Keep on purrraying, we'll never know...purrr...meow!

I wonder which are easier to handle, the aged or the young ones. Mine are playful, lazy and stubborn, unaware of the harsh future head. I am sure the old ones have different problems. But why do we do what we do when many do not care? I kick the purring ones ..

Alamak, I haven't started with my Raya visits yet. Esok Raya (puasa 6) so will start tomorrow, insyaAllah.

Hope your "open house" will cheer up those folks...

Your mama is awesome as always. She reminds me Mother Teresa's quotes : "We can do no great things, only small things with great love."

That would be a very meaningful way of celebrating Raya and Merdeka. Where is this home, has it been registered with the SWD and what are its sources of funds, may I ask? For the sake of all those lovely gentle residents, we must have responsible parties carry out due diligence on the homes.

CO78,
It's going to be a long term affair with this house. We'll keep you updated on the status. purrr....meow!
