Royalty for Cats

Hi Y'all! Let's cut the chase, shall we? I have a business proposal. A sound one, if I may say so.

A tiger on the bed with Nikki?

See the cute "tiger" pencil case Mama got me (that Nikki has agreed to model with)? I've been using that to store my stationeries. You see, we're all homeschooled and Mama insists that we all do proper housekeeping. But I digress....let's get to the point.

Oooo.....he's so handsome.

Look at this cute face. I wonder how many of these "tiger" pencil cases have been produced and used worldwide. It's not cheap, Mama said. She paid RM10 for this little fella and that was on a 50% discount, which means people would normally pay RM20 for a small pencil case. What about those humongous "tiger" plush? I bet they would be more expensive, especially for those with so-called licensed names like Tigger of Winnie the Pooh fame.

Now, let's apply licensing fees on every "tiger" lookalike produced (plush toys, shoes or fabric with tiger prints, rugs, cushions etc etc etc) just like licensing fees charged by the music industry. For every 100,000 "tiger" pencil case, say each sold at normal price of RM20, we take 10% royalty for the real tigers. That's 10% of RM2 million, equals to RM400,000!!!!!

That's RM400,000 for the tigers that we can use for conservation, food, rehabilitation, recreation of habitats, vet services etc etc etc. Who should monitor this effort? I'd suggest myself but I'm just a small kittykat (who doesn't even have a bank account). What about MNS or PAWS or even SPCA? We'll start with Malaysia first, OK? We'll sort out the rest of the world later. Think about it, peeps!

No wonder Angelina took time off from blogging. It's so exhausting - physically, mentally and emotionally. Besides exercising my brain in cooking up stories, I also have to make sure that I position my body in such a way that I'm not ergonomically-challenged. And to avoid using bombastic words, my Mama said. (did I just do that?)

In deep thoughts....hmmm.....I need story ideas.....

Market Walkabout

Last weekend, while Mama and her bevy of beauties were cooking porridge, I took a walk....just to see what's in store since it was my first time at the Mega Farmers' Market. I must say that I was delighted at looking and sampling what were on offer.

I have a confession though. I managed to walk through only a couple of rows beyond Mama's tent as the market was huge...humongous is the word. My short legs won't be able to walk too much. They were still sore from all the belly dancing I did the previous night. I think I'm going to persuade Mama to take me to this market again so that I can cover the other areas I didn't get to snoopervise. Soon, she said.

I checked out the vegetable stalls. So many greens on offer....

Sweet, delicious local fruits - these are mangosteens...Dad's favourite.

Aaah....the King of Fruits - durians. Am drooling as I write this.

The red ones at the front are fresh lychees, brown ones on the left are longans aka cats' eyes, next are what the locals call dukong.

Really yummy red rambutans....I love its juicy flesh. Most Malaysian fruits require you to peel off the skins before eating....

Madu Lebah = Bees' Honey; 100% Asli = 100% pure; Madu Tualang = Honey collected from Tualang trees.

Aaarrgh...humongous fish for eating.....

...as well as tiny fishies for decoratin'!

Plants were sold too. Mama bought a few...she's restarting her balcony garden...

We found more fruits....those are local mangoes and pineapples.

Humongous citrus - the pomelo. They taste like grapefruits, I was told.

Local red/purple-fleshed dragon fruits (pittaya) were comfy next to local buah salak (snake skin fruits).

Is this tree wintering? Quite artistic shot I must say. This is my blog, I can put any photo I like, OK?

Brad says: The concept behind the Farmers' Market is for farmers to be able to bring their produce to the cities, direct to consumers, thus eliminating middlemen. How true? I don't know. I saw some apples and pears and oranges at the stalls. Definitely not local fruits. There were also stalls selling clothes, household items and luggage. Hmm....those are not farm produce obviously. har har har *evil laughs*
