Birthday Bash for QoTH and Yours Truly

Teeheehee!!!! Angelina is going to be soooooo jealous and green with envy. I had a nice start to my gotcha month plus celebrate HRH Queen of the House's birthday as well. Isn't it nice that mother and son celebrate together?

First, Mama took me out for chicken and pizza last Friday.....not at a fast food joint but at her office! Fancy that! I was an office cat for a day. Everyone doted on me, I must say. (who wouldn't dote on the chairperson's son, eh?) We had cakes (two of them) and muffins too. It was a yummylicious day at the office.

There were six boxes of pizza! And two roast chickens! I wanna celebrate Gotcha Day everyday, Mama.
The cake...OK...this one's half eaten but by tea time it was gone.
My tummy was so full that day that I slept right through from lunch to dinner. Then Mama told me she was taking me to a party on Saturday. Not just any party, it was a themed party and I got to dress up fancy. Woohoo!!!!! And guess what I did the whole night? I belly dance!!!!! Coz the theme was Arabian Night. Mama went to an all girls school so all her alumni members were ladies. No spouses (males) allowed but nobody objected to me showing up. Maybe because I'm not a male human. I must say being a mancat has its advantages.

Mama's batch booked three tables and so I have many aunties who petted and smooched me. Everyone seems to love my sardine breath....teeheehee...sweeeeet! Let the photographs do the talking, OK? Oh...am not allowed to show all photographs, only decent ones as many of the ladies have literally let their hair down.

Some of my aunties....remember Aunty Rose who came cherry picking in Sydney? She's second from left. Aunty Aimy who came apple picking is the one in black. Aunty Alynn (pink outfit) won the Best Dress prize. Also in this photo, Aunty Loly (far left) and Aunty Emy (far right).
Aunty Aimy was the official pawpawrazzi at our table.
Aunty Amal (left) and Aunty Ninot were gorgeous in black. Did I just use a bombastic word to describe these aunties of mine?
Mama's batch performed a short sketch for the night. Mama was the dictator director. It was hard coordinating everyone, she said.
There you have it. The Top 15 in the Best Dress category. The ladies really made an effort that night.
Belly dancing to Jai Ho! Oh yess....we did it.
Everyone wanted to have a group photo on stage.
Brad says: I'd like to suggest a theme for next year's party - Lady Gaga. And purrrlease hold it in July too. har har har *evil laughs*

A 3-in-1 Sunday

Yesterday was a happy day in the household.
It was:
1) Nicole's Gotcha Day - her seventh year of becoming Mama's daughter-in-law (she's married to my brother Tom).
2) Dad's birthday - can't tell you his age but in feline calculation, he's pretty veteran (almost retirement age, he said).
3) Aunty F's birthday - my Mak Long, Mama's elder sister.

We spent the day at home, Mama baked a cake and we all sang Happy Birthday and then coz it rained buckets, we didn't go anywhere and spent a lazy day at home. Lazy, but happy. purrr....meow!

Happy Gotcha Nicole! Isn't she pretty?

Best Gotcha Day Ever!

I was born sometime in the year 2007. I don't remember my biological mother much. Just that I somehow ended up cold and wet and crying at someone's kitchen door. That was Aunty J's kitchen. Aunty J and her family took pity on me and welcomed me into their life. I stayed with them for about three months before I was surrendered to my Mama. The rest, as they say, is history.

To commemorate that fateful day in July 2007 when my Mama first "gotcha" me, we had a small celebration at home. At first Mama wanted to invite the usual gang to a party but as she had a flu, decided against it. The celebration started from morning until midnight. Serious! They came in small doses but I savour every moment.

There I was relaxing next to the hibernating queen, waiting for Mama to prepare breakfast.

Hmmm...some interesting cooking happening there.

Aah...poffertjes. Yummm....those tiny morsels of delight also known as Dutch pancakes. We had those with honey.

Mama said she made the poffertjes to also celebrate the Dutch team's achievement in the World Cup. I'm not complaining. Oh, there's no recipe for this coz we got the pancake mix from the big guy at Parklea Market. Just add water, the instruction on the packet says.

We then spent the day gardening, mostly weeding as the rain has encouraged growth of some weeds in the pots. Some of the plants are also infected by pests and we had to spray white oil on them.

Come midday, Mama went to the kitchen again and made some fried noodles. She was really spoiling me rotten. The noodle dish has loads of prawns and veggies in it. Yumm....

Want some? No, you can't. It's all mine.

And just when I thought it wouldn't get any better, Mama made chocolate chip cookies laden with heaps of macadamia nuts for afternoon tea. I had the cookies with Milo. I think the whole block could smell the aroma of the cookies.

Some people say Mama's choc chip cookies are better than that "famous" brand. I agree.

My stomach was so full with all those pancakes, noodles and cookies that I had to decline Mama's offer of dinner. "But tell me if you're hungry again, OK?," she said.

Even Angelina woke up from her slumber to help me celebrate. I couldn't be eating all those delish stuffs alone now, could I?

Later in the evening, my stomach was growling and I was begging for a light supper. So I have a bottomless pit of a stomach, OK? Mama has been so cooperative all day that I was at first hesitant to beg. But as it was my special day, she still went to the kitchen and cook up something. Hmmm....what else I wonder....

I could hear some stir frying, chili in the pan (everyone sneezed), then some mashing and bashing and more frying....to produce these:

Aah...cekodok pisang and sambal ikan bilis. We ate these while watching Germany demolish Argentina. Sweet.....

And that's how we celebrated my "gotcha" day. har har har *evil laughs*
